Congratulations to Nabil Abad for being named Alabama Orchestra Associaiton’s Composition Contest 2019 winner with his work titled Discord. This piece will be premiered by the Festival Orchestra on February 10, 2019 at Moody Music Building in Tuscaloosa.

Nabil Abad is a composition student finishing his bachelor of music degree at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. At BW Nabil has had the opportunity to study composition with faculty members Clint Needham and Jonathan Sokol. In 2018 Nabil received 2nd place in the Cleveland Composers Guild annual Composition Competition and was also included in the Cleveland Chamber Symphony’s Young and Emerging Composers concert. Nabil has received performances and participated in workshops with a variety of ensembles including the Kenari Saxophone Quartet, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra and members of A Far Cry. In the summer of 2018 Nabil was a composition fellow at the Norfolk New Music Workshop in Norfolk, Connecticut.
